The "Our Boys Didn't Die For Nothing" syndrome

A super piece in HP/De Tijd. I'm also going to use this blog as an archive for the few sensible articles in the media. For the time being, I will stick to conspiracy-free articles. For now I'm keeping conspiracies at bay, but I'll continue to follow them.

This column is (again) by a GP. Now I suspect that without vaccinations the virus will 'disappear' anyway after the traditional revival in March 2021 - at least in its current, panic-inducing form.

All kinds of scenarios are conceivable: many people will be vaccinated. and in summer 2021 the virus has disappeared, like every year. Only this time it is thanks to the government's decisive policy and the fantastic vaccinations. Huzzah! All's well that ends well.

If the virus no longer appears in the media (and that is easy to arrange), then they could easily get away with it.

we really want rivers of hand sanitiser, stuffy face masks and not going to a concert, to the gym or to the office – for it to really matter. Because then we do it for something.

But there is a lot of rebellion now. Lawsuits ('class acts'), angry trade associations, aggrieved or dismissed doctors, neglected sick people or their relatives, insulted science, you name it... This will continue. Society has become a lot more assertive than during previous government blunders. It seems to me that no cover-up is big enough to eliminate all dissent, no matter how much many people may want to see their sacrifices or abuse of power justified.
