Democratically elected representatives of the people appear to be more unsuitable than hoped. They have characteristics that allow them to predominate in a wasp's nest where it is all about catching each other's flies. That only works if you are quick to speak and overestimate yourself so that you come across as confident.
It is also important not to be able to see further than two minutes into the future, otherwise doubts could arise. What certainly helps is if only one future scenario is possible. As a result, promises can be made.
If circumstances change quickly, it makes the promises lies or scams because the promise is not kept. To get away with that, you have to be absolutely convinced that it wasn't your fault that you were completely wrong and that you were making weighty statements without any knowledge of the facts. No: you had 'vision'. At that moment you stood for your ideals, just like Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, Hitler.
A more adventurous spirit sees that things can also turn out differently, but the voters do not like doubts or a slap on the arm. So it works democratically to your advantage if you have no self-relativization, no sputtering conscience, just enough knowledge to be able to talk your way out of something, come across as energetic, hide behind 'the system'. That is also demonstrated here.
In the last elections, that behavior was clearly rewarded. The biggest liars and ducks stay put.
Democracy may be the least bad option for a country, but it turns out to be a very bad option if more has to be done than just minding the store.
The inherent dysfunctionality of such a policy system increases with scale. You can already see this in the EU's policy: males and females who are not good at math clump together around an EU 'story' that takes on disastrous proportions due to the power that has been granted. It becomes a flywheel that can no longer be stopped, even if it turns in the wrong direction.
