Martin Krijgsman wonders on Facebook:
Why did Marion Koopmans co-design the PCR test in January, when the RIVM still denied that Corona would become a thing?
That smacks of a conspiracy
"Go to sleep peacefully, everything is under control," said Jaap van Dissel in February. "I expect little to no problems from Carnival". Paais and peace until all hell broke loose in the hospitals, which could not handle more than 10% overcapacity.
Yet Dissel's German counterpart Drosten and close colleague Koopmans had already been working in January to get the first Corona test protocol published (which no one else has succeeded). With steam and boiling water, peer-reviewed, approved and everything in no time. They fixed a process of weeks in 48 hours. That design is now under fire.

How did they know then that Corona would be a billion-dollar hit? For some, this is "proof of a conspiracy". But my idea is simpler: they didn't know that. The interests creep in later on.
Especially if the situation in NL and DE would remain under control, those tests might have been useful – if properly designed, of course. Just think of testing at Schiphol, at the border, at hotspots, by the GP when Covid is suspected, etc. That business model already looked promising enough: "Together we keep Corona out!" The Chinese were testing themselves crazy, or so they said. So that would also be the way to ward off and control the virus here.
Lobbyists part of customer and seller
The project therefore looked promising, all the more so because there were enough pluggers involved to underline its importance. The lobby was available in influential places (cabinet advisors!) that increased the chance of acceptance. The idea was that testing would certainly prove its usefulness. Win-win. A good virologist grabs every patent he can get his hands on. This is done under the motto 'nothing is always wrong'. You'll just win the jackpot! (think of the chilling toast by Osterhaus if it is reported that the first infected child has been reported, swine flu.)
Number 1
They didn't know at the time that it would become such a huge mega hit, but the Minister of Health and Welfare as chairman of the fan club, who would have thought. They drove de Jonge completely crazy with those PCR tests, the poor teacher eagerly gobbled up everything the eminent professors served him. What a responsibility to be able to communicate that! "Testing, testing, testing, telling them to listen, that it's taking away from their own time (he understands that), and then testing, testing, testing again... Can it be a little more? OK: Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate..."
The PCR tests, like the face masks, are a form of psychological warfare against their own people. The doctors and politicians themselves repeatedly state this. Face masks are good, fear is better.
Effect of all that testing is 0.0. I don't know what effect to name except fear. The number of hospital admissions is indicative of the measures, not the course of the 'infections' annex 'positive tests'. The worst thing is, they just explain that, even to the owl chicks in the House of Representatives... Which newspaper dares to stand up against this debility?
Retraction paper
The quickly produced test protocol is currently under heavy fire. A group of leading scientists has submitted a Retraction Paper. If the original article is withdrawn, the scientific basis for testing will disappear. But:
- The House of Representatives has already determined through a motion that a positive PCR test must be treated as an infection. Let those scientists battle, what do they care. There is also no scientific basis for the 1.5 m – so what? Not for face masks either, right?
- Jaap van Dissel only has to say to Rutte "may be, that retraction, but we simply have nothing better". Parliament is behind him because then they can continue and they are confirmed in their right. Van Haga will sputter again but he always does...
- At the same time, Virus Truth is also fighting on the judicial front. Also in the summons, there is no stone left unturned about the PCR thing. The judge's ruling on the PCR test will follow on December 9. The Court keeps causing disappointments, so that won't work out – the Machthebber/Arts contract cannot be broken through without a competent parliament, and that is completely lacking.
In the meantime, we are left with gas that cannot float, mouth coverings that deprive you of oxygen, a test to scare people and a vaccine in which important test phases have been skipped or shortened.
And all this for a virus with the characteristics of a severe flu and an average dying age that is above life expectancy.
