RIVM: "If the number of infections continues to rise so quickly, regional measures are needed"
The word '5G' falls into a AD interview with Jaap van Dissel. The reason is working from home to spread corona less. Jaap van Dissel then says: "Working from home will also be easier if you have that fast internet, for example, and 5G." Then the spokesperson jokingly breaks in: "That's not such a nice thing to call Jaap, 5G." Jaap has no idea why not:
[journalist:] The wildest conspiracy theories are circulating online about a possible link between the rollout of the superfast internet via 5G and the coronavirus. Van Dissel, surprised: "Really? Well, I'm not really into conspiracy theories."
Interview with Jaap van Dissel in the AD, 12 September
End of quote. We are dealing with an unworldly, perhaps confused man. If such a 5G discussion escapes you, you should not be in a responsible position. Then you miss important developments in your field, you should know about its existence and also why it is nonsense. Keep in mind that it is about PUBLIC HEALTH. Interest in social unrest is a requirement. In short: The broader picture is just not there for him anymore. Context is missing. That he talks about 'that fast Internet AND 5G', let's forgive him; That's just how moderately informed boomers talk about innovations: that's far from their bed, not their thing. Could it have to do with the chaotic data collection? In any case, he does not show any special social alertness with this either.
That emperor without clothes did no harm to others
Van Dissel has apparently become detached from reality, to such an extent that I wonder where stubbornness ends and insanity begins. It won't be because of his IQ. Either he is living in a psychosis, or there may be something wrong with his brain. We know that even serial killers can be (and remain) convinced that they are right; They see and interpret the world differently, they are not even able to perceive things that do not fit into their narrative. An investigation by the Pieter Baancentrum could provide more clarity. With possibly a large number of deaths as a result of an idea, there is quite a reason for this. Some have laid down on the sofa for less.
If he has never heard of the 5G conspiracy, he probably doesn't know the ins and outs of the controversies surrounding the PCR test. This also fits with the fact that he has no idea of the infection routes of respiratory diseases. There are piles of studies available on this, but he does not follow the progress at all. Why should he? After all, none of that is classic virology, it's just stuff on social media, novelty and discussions in professional journals, well, there are always those. He doesn't need any of that: "We really know what's going on".
Such a deteriorating patient can't help it himself, he doesn't know any better. But that the politicians around him do not intervene (they even hide behind 'the experts') and that the media do not scratch their heads - what am I saying: ranting at so many expressions of incompetence, that is reprehensible, not to say to the point of criminality.
Where is Ferd when you need him?
While there are so many sensible people walking around there, that's the crazy thing. Presumably such a Ferd Grapperhaus sees it very well. He knows better than van Dissel how to deal with the virus, as evidenced by his wedding. He has set a fine example to the Dutch people. But why does he also allow himself to be bullied into that repressive doctrine and help shape that catastrophic blinkered approach... Is that what power does to you? I don't want to blame him just like that, but I can't get my head around it.
It's not up to 1 man... But what about Sweden?
Can you slide everything on van Dissel? A country that signs up to the WHO is convinced of the usefulness of central control, shared overhead, more clout, bundled expertise, international coordination. RIVM is a branch of the WHO and it would be crazy if a WHO country does not follow the WHO – why else are you affiliated? That's the same as subscribing to Netflix and never watching. Jaap van Dissel as WHO branch manager simply monitors the house rules. Only he has switched off his own judgment, to such an extent that the WHO has become his only frame of reference. That goes a bit far, but you could still argue that the problem is in the system and the WHO, not in van Dissel.
However, blindly following WHO is not an obligation. Sweden has shown that, despite being a member of the WTO, it is quite possible to use your own common sense. They have sailed their own course. But they have Andreas Tegnell. We have Jaap van Dissel. So then it comes down to one individual again.
The biggest mistake is the deliberate ignoring of air contamination. Fortunately, most boards of schools, care centers, etc. orient themselves more broadly than this boomer with blinkers. Hopefully it will not be too bad when the R comes emphatically in the month again. The clumsiness does not benefit the togetherness. Fingers crossed.
