Science journalist Maarten Keulemans, famous copy-paster of RIVM mantras, wondered yesterday how a Leiden choir could have become infected, despite open windows. I already answered this a few months ago. See the link below.
When reading my (hypothetical) statement, keep in mind that none of the singers has become 'really ill'. No hospitalizations, no deaths. How is that possible with such a super dangerous virus, a miracle!
If the windows had been closed, there might have been deaths due to the higher concentration of virus in the air, because the severity of the disease is directly related to the severity of the infection in the lungs. At least that's Demonstrated for all respiratory diseases until now. No indeed, Mr. van Dissel, not yet before the coronavirus – but you're a jerk if you don't see any patterns in your own field, aren't you?
If the wind had been a little stronger, the threshold value for those light infections might not even have been reached. This was shown in yet another study, but that was with guinea pigs and ferrets, so that argument is also brushed aside by the RIVM: "Ferrets are not people". And admittedly Jaap van Dissel, they didn't sing either.
