I have posted about this theme on Facebook before, such as the recent warnings by vaccine expert Geert van den Bossche and earlier a video by Pierre Capel. The same sound is now being heard from more and more different sides. Therefore, attention is paid to an article by British doctors' group HART.
Ik herinner me uitspraken als "The virus will find its way" en "Impossible. A vaccination campaign will be stopped within six months". Sputterende wetenschappers: nu even creatief meedenken!
Very briefly my interpretation:
- Broadly speaking, the same applies to the mechanism of lockdowns and vaccination [I make the connection between these two myself, so it is not in the piece]:
- In the event of incomplete virus eradication, the strongest, most contagious variants remain and they can still run their course in the absence of competition from widespread predecessors.
- In terms of lethality, too, the opposite effect is obvious: friendlier variants are less likely to spread during lockdowns because everyone is isolated, not just sick people, so that the disadvantage of the pathogens is eliminated.
- [The vaccine works on a very specific piece of the virus protein. That gives room to mutants. Due to the mechanisms described in this article, mutants that a. are more likely to be more deadly and b. become increasingly contagious. The immune system will not be able to react or react too aggressively to similar viruses without this one specific recognition point.]
Conclusion:
- It is precisely by keeping only the pathogens isolated and letting the rest continue to infect / evolve, just like in the past, that you would create the right herd immunity. At the same time, you steer the evolution of a virus towards less dangerous mutations.
Actually, the biggest enemy of the virus is the virus itself. If we could let less contagious, less deadly variants run their course, we would get rid of the misery faster.
But rather: staying at home when you are sick and air purification at group gatherings, to prevent sudden pressure on healthcare.
If all this is true, you should actually help a virus to develop benignly. You don't do that by fighting it.

I now see that Maurice the article in Dutch and made a longer summary. I'll post this one anyway!
