It is another provocative text: does a respected virologist - Marion Koopmans - really wonder whether the first animal-to-human infection worldwide has recently taken place in the Netherlands? I can't believe it. What is possible is that this is evident from the data from RIVM. The animal market in Wuhan may not have been measured according to protocol and therefore did not take place. However, I can also remember other reports about animal-human and human-animal infections, I do not have them ready for a while.
Apart from the journalist and/or Marion Koopmans, were there any people at all who thought you couldn't be infected by an animal? Or was the journalist hoping to create a scoop like that? It sounds exaggerated, but this is dangerous data manipulation. You stay away from the facts, even as an AD journalist.
The media bombards us daily with news, peppered with half-truths and blatant nonsense. Journalism NL will really have to step up its game. Especially the alphas fall through the basket again, just like the presentation notes yesterday at Op1 (Hup Maurice!). From the question type "What went to you when you first heard about the virus": "What actually drives you to commit yourself to this in this way". Yes, why are you sitting where you are, girl... Sitting at the table with two data crunchers and then not getting any further than such beginner questions. A waste of airtime.
Without proper information through the media, we continue to agree to the pursuit of shadows, measures that do not help and unnecessary fears of the wrong things. We maintain that on the basis of 'it was on TV' or 'it was in the newspaper' or 'they are virologists' or other non-substantive arguments with which many people easily get rid of it.
Effects
I see entrepreneurs renovating their offices for future "one and a half meter works". Awful, right? As if it matters whether you are 1 or 2 meters apart when you are all in the same room all day... While in many office buildings the windows cannot be opened, air is pumped around the entire building, the toilets are not equally clean everywhere, the soap is often gone and so on. We are collectively put on the wrong track and you wonder for what purpose.
With scaremongering you get every agenda through, you can see that again. Partly because of this, we are still not mentally ripe for a nuclear transition – but that aside.
